Writer Note: The bomb threat was from far-right groups specifically. It is included because it shows how TERFs and gender crits help fuel right-wing movements and hate groups, even if it is not intentional.
In short, Marlene Barbera made remarks about how she was uncomfortable about a transgender pride flag hanging in her doctor's office. She sent her doctor a note online comparing the flag to a Nazi flag and stated that the flag went against her gender-critical beliefs. A few incidents with staff occurred over the next month, and she was notified on June 29th that she would have to find a new office due to her statements.
A month after this message, she posted the screenshots of it on Twitter. The day after they were posted, a Reduxx interview, Reduxx being an anti-transgender website, was published. about it. Libs of TikTok, an anti-LGBTQ+ account where the owner has a "history of directing harassment and threats toward children’s hospitals" posted about the incident on the same day as the Reduxx article.
A donation page was then made on GiveSendGo, a Christain GoFundMe alternative, sponsored by a fellow TERF.
Then on August 5th, an article was published about a bomb threat received by Richmond Family Health Center; "According to an email sent to members of the AFSCME union representing OHSU employees, the threat was in response to a story posted on a far-right, anti-trans website alleging a cancer patient had been dropped by the clinic over remarks she made about the LGBTQ+ community."
